i dont see anything wrong with parents running a school bake sale, they're doing the same thing that teachers are doing when they run the bake sale

this is a stupid idea. no one wants food that is pre-packaged from a bake sale, they want home cooked brownies and cookies

kids will eat what they want, when did schools start snatching twinkies out hands? Offer healty foods but dont take away all the good stuff... educate on good health as well

I think schools should be able to stop bake sales because while parents arent around during school hours the school is held responsible for you and they can control what you eat to an extent but outside of school there is no stopping anyone from what they eat.

well maybe they shouldn't sell nothing but snacks so kids wont get so fat. they should add son healthy snacks such as protien bars or something like that.

I find this cut back of back sales kind of rediculous. This attempt to stop childhood obesity is rather silly because all its doing is cutting down the money that would go to the cause that the backsale is helping. These children will eat what ever they want to. In my opinion it is up to the parents to say what a child can and cannot eat, it is not up to NYC officials.

I think that cutting back on bake sales is not an effective way for fighting obesity. Kids will eventually eat what they want if it is sold at the school or not. I think that NYC school officials have a responsibility to what students eat to a certain point. I think that they are to provide different choices of food including healthy choices and non-healthy choices and then they can educate them on how and why to choose the healthier choices, but I do not think that all they should provide is healthy food since kids will either not buy it. The kind of non-food-fundraisers that are held at my school are games such as girls football, family feud, and talent shows where all the proceeds go to kids with cancer.
